To illustrate the construction of graphs in comparison, we use the Pujols/Rameriz season-to-season batting data contained in the data file TSUB case 3.1.
Suppose I want to construct parallel dotplots for the OPS values for the two players.
I open up the Graph menu:
If I select the Dotplot option, I see the following window. I select the variable OPS, let the grouping variable by Player, and then select “Calculate”.
I see parallel dotplots.
One can add the Median to each plot – in the Dotplot box, choose the Marker median.
First choose Graphs -> Boxplots from the main menu. In the dialog box, select column OPS and Group by Player.
To find summary stats for each player …
Choose the Stat > Summary Stats menu item. Select the Columns option.
Select the column OPS and Group by Player.
You get an assortment of different summary statistics for each player.
