To illustrate the use of StatCrunch in studying relationships, we load TSUB Case 5.1 which contains the batting average and runs scored per game for 15 teams.
To construct a scatterplot of the two variables, we select Scatter Plot from the Graph menu.
We select AVG to be the X variable and R.G as the Y variable and choose Calculate. You should see the following scatterplot.
If we want to see the least-squares line, then we repeat the previous command, but we Overlay polynomial order 1, and again select Calculate.
If we want to find the equation of the least-squares line, we select the option Stat -> Regression -> Simple Linear, and select Calculate.
Again we select the X variable to be AVG, the Y variable to be R.G.
